Why it is different

No grain. No mycelium. No shortcuts.

This is the dense sclerotium that grows slowly on living birch in the Canadian boreal forest, not mycelium cultivated indoors on grain.

Each piece is cut by hand rather than pulled, allowing the tree to continue producing. The only ingredient is 100% wild Canadian chaga.

Taste and versatility

Earthy, smooth, and easy to make your own.

Chaga is earthy and mildly bitter, with a faint cocoa-adjacent quality. It pairs naturally with coffee, cocoa, maple, dark chocolate, oatmeal, smoothies, and baked goods.

Powder fits into quick drinks and recipes. Pieces make the traditional slow-simmered tea and can be brewed more than once.

Before you order

A few questions.

What is the difference between Chaga Powder and Chaga Pieces?

They are the same wild-harvested Canadian chaga prepared in two formats. Powder is convenient for quick drinks and cooking. Pieces are intended for a longer traditional simmer and can be reused for 2 to 3 brews.

What does chaga taste like?

It is earthy, smooth, and mildly bitter, with a faint cocoa-adjacent quality. It works well on its own and pairs naturally with coffee, cocoa, maple, and dark chocolate.

How should I store it?

Keep unused Powder or Pieces cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight. Refrigerate or freeze brewed Pieces between uses.

Can I use both formats?

Yes. Powder is useful for quick daily preparation and recipes, while Pieces are well suited to slower mornings and traditional tea.

Where do you ship?

Orders ship from the USA to the United States and Canada. They are normally processed within 1 to 2 business days. Estimated delivery is typically 5 to 7 business days after shipment, although customs processing may add time for Canadian orders.

What is the return policy?

My Self Reliance has a 30-day return policy, with eligibility requirements and exclusions. Read the full return policy.
