Hearthside 03: Hearthside Is Where We Unplug And Reconnect

The internet has a way of speeding up everything, your attention, your mood, even your sense of what a “normal” day should feel like. So we’re trying something different: a quiet corner that feels like stepping into a cabin, sitting by the fire, and letting the day settle. This welcome to Hearthside is Sean James sharing, plainly and personally, what this membership is meant to be and what it is not.

We talk about why slow living and self-reliance are more than projects and productivity. Hearthside is built for the reflective side of cabin life: thoughtful podcasts, calm videos, and extras that do not always fit the public channel. We also get honest about why memberships matter in 2026: algorithms can bury slower work, watch time can decide what gets seen, and a direct relationship with members keeps the experience human, unhurried, and protected from the loudest parts of the internet.

Sean also shares where this could go next, from live Q and A sessions and possible Starlink setup to a future community space where members can connect with each other. The intention stays the same either way: no rush, no overwhelm, and content that respects the quiet hour you give it.

If you’re craving an algorithm-free podcast that supports mindfulness, calm mornings, and a more grounded pace, settle in with us. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs a slower corner of the web, and leave a review with what you want to hear next.

Greetings from Oklahoma!

I’m really looking forward to being a part of this community. Shawn mentioned quite a while ago that he might want to talk about yoga & meditation. I wouldn’t mind hearing more, if that’s something others are interested in & if he’s still doing.

Thank you for today’s upload. I agree, this is a space to unwind from the chaos of life and learn together how we can apply the principles of a quieter, more peaceful life, no matter where we live. I will enjoy watching this community grow and naturally evolve together.
I have a topic I would love to hear your advice on.
I am 55 years old and live in Caledon, Ontario. I am in a subdivision that touches farmland on all sides…so practically in the countryside but not, at the same time. We are a 2 minute walk to the Etobicoke Creek Trail as well. Blessed to be in a lovely spot.
I have told my husband that I have dreams of moving to Terra Cotta, or Cheltenham or the Forks of the Credit when we retire. Hubby is very open to this idea, so there is no issues there.
But, the older I have become, the more afraid of wildlife I am. LOL!
We had a lot of coyotes wandering in our neighborhood streets this winter and spring. They were probably looking for resources, but it makes me afraid for our Sheltie dog. What if we ran into one, and they wanted my dog?
So that was a long winded way to give perspective to my question, but how do you manage to not be afraid of wildlife? You have moose, bears, wolves, coyotes, etc. I would love to learn your mindset on living peacefully with the wildlife, and when do you know it’s a danger that you need to quickly take Cali or yourself inside?
I know I have posted a few comments in the last day or two because I am just excited about the new membership. I promise I won’t be that person that posts something to you constantly. LOL!
Anyways, thanks for considering my question and have a great day.
