Wild foraged in northern Canada

Wild chaga, grown slowly on living birch and harvested by hand in the northern forest.

True wild Canadian chaga sclerotium. No grain, mycelium, fillers, or excipients.

The core difference

Not all chaga powder is the same.

  • True wild chaga is the dense sclerotium that grows slowly on a living birch tree.
  • Many commercial products begin as mycelium cultivated on grain indoors.
  • The source, density, color, and contents of the finished product can be very different.
  • My Self Reliance sells wild Canadian sclerotium, harvested by hand in the northern forest.

Why people drink it

The quieter reasons.

Tradition
Chaga has been steeped across northern regions for generations, long before it became a modern wellness trend.
Something real and wild
This chaga comes from living birch trees in the boreal forest, not from grain cultivated indoors.
A daily ritual
A warm cup in the morning creates a slow, deliberate moment before the day gets going.
Self-reliance
Know where what you drink comes from, how it was prepared, and who harvested it.
The experience itself
Earthy, warm, and non-stimulating, it offers a different ritual from coffee or tea.

How to use it

Simple, either way.

Powder

In your cup.

Stir half a teaspoon into hot water, coffee, tea, cocoa, or a smoothie. Start there and adjust to taste.

In food and baking.

Add a modest amount to batters, doughs, oatmeal, granola, energy balls, or chocolate for a mild earthy note.

Pieces

Slow and traditional.

Use 1 to 2 pieces per litre or quart of water. Bring to a simmer, keep it low for 30 minutes to a few hours, then strain. Refrigerate or freeze used pieces between brews and reuse them 2 to 3 times.

Sourcing

Cut by hand, not manufactured.

  • Wild harvested in the boreal forest of northern Canada
  • Grown slowly on living birch, not cultivated on grain
  • Each piece is cut by hand rather than pulled from the tree
  • No grain, mycelium, excipients, or fillers
  • Dried and prepared simply, with nothing added

At half a teaspoon a day, an 8 oz bag of Chaga Powder provides approximately 150 to 200 servings, or about twenty-two to thirty cents per cup.
