I enjoyed this message. I love the idea of sitting quietly by the fire. We have a cast iron fireplace outside. Got this thing at Canadian Tire about 25 years ago. It looks like a little stone fireplace (though it’s actually cast iron) with a mesh door on the front and mesh sides to ventilate the fire and allow nice visibility. I don’t think you could even find something like this on the market these days, but it’s virtually indestructible and allows us to safely enjoy a fire in our small backyard. I am feeling quite inspired by you, to build a fire each night for the rest of the summer, to enjoy outside. Indoors we have a living room gas fireplace that I can switch to when it’s too cold to sit outside, but that is months away from now.
I love the idea of a live chat. Have you considered offering the occasional zoom chat, where the members can meet you by chat and have a visit?
I am only 1 year younger than you, but for a variety of reasons, I am at the starting line of things compared to where you are in the journey of self reliance, slow paced life, etc etc. I am learning quite a lot from you sharing your experiences. Thank you. I appreciate what you do, and I really am living a bit vicariously through you and your wife’s experience, because I wish I lived in the wilderness, even if I know I am just not there yet. ha ha.
Anyways. I think you can tell by the length of my comment, it’s a Sunday and I am not working today and have time to enjoy your podcast. Thanks again for what you are doing here. I am enjoying getting to know you a bit more through the membership, but I really am learning a lot and I am challenged to make changes in my life to make it better and more peaceful.
Thanks and have a good one!
