The Fire Q&A

Four times a year we sit down by the woodstove and I answer your questions honestly, with no agenda and no clock. Ask about the build, the tools, the land, or the life. If I don't know the answer, I'll tell you that too. Every session is recorded and lives here afterward, so nothing is lost if you can't make it live.

The Fall Fire Q&A

Thursday, September 24 at 8pm Eastern

Send your questions in ahead of time using the button below. I read every one, and I work through as many as the fire allows. Questions submitted early tend to get the most thorough answers, because I have time to think about them while I work.

Questions close one week before the session.

Joining live

The link to the live session is posted here and sent by email the morning of. You don't need a camera or a microphone, just show up and listen, or type follow-up questions in the chat as we go.

If the date doesn't work for you, the full recording is up within a few days, and your submitted question gets answered either way.

How It Works

No agenda, no highlight reel

Before

Send in your question

Anything you're working through on your own place, or thinking about starting. Practical, philosophical, or somewhere in between. There are no bad questions here, only ones I haven't been asked yet.

The Session

By the fire, live

I sit down by the woodstove and work through the questions one at a time, the way a knowledgeable friend would, not the way a tutorial does. Occasionally a guest joins, a craftsman or a forager who earned what they know the same way I did.

After

Archived here

The recording is posted below within a few days of the session, and it stays here for as long as you're a member. The archive grows four sessions a year, and the older ones hold up.
